National Sandwich Day (USA)

Chorizo, spinach, avocado & tomato
CSAT - when all you want is a BLT but all you have in the fridge are chorizo, spinach, avocado and tomato.

Apparently, it’s National Sandwich Day in the US of A. I’ve a feeling the celebrations of this momentous day may get overshadowed by the devastating pummelling of the Democrats in Congress (didn’t that happen with Clinton’s administration? Tie their hands, make the government impotent!).

So a sad day for forward thinking democrats everywhere, but, hey, Happy Sandwich Day!

If you want to see some other exclamations of floury celebrations, try this feed on Twitter.

And whilst we’re here, what’s your favourite sandwich?

For today, mine is a lovely, fresh BLAT – that’s bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato – either on a toasted ciabatta or a fresh, soft wispy white roll.

Every day should be a sandwich day!

Nov 3 is mostly known as the day for election results. Nov. 3 is also National Sandwich Day, though. An incredibly versatile foodstuff, a good sandwich could be every little thing from a hearty Reuben to the vegan-friendly cucumber stack. This is the perfect day to try out a sandwich.

Thanks for your comment. I hadn’t realised that November 3 was the day for election results, I thought it was just a coincidence.

I’m not a huge fan of cucumbers, but I have to try this famous Reuben I keep hearing about.

And as I said, every day should be a sandwich day!

    According to Wikipedia:

The Reuben sandwich is a hot sandwich of layered corned beef or pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian or Thousand Island dressing, grilled between slices of rye bread.
