Sometimes I get a bit lazy or just need a change, so I end up going to a local shop to buy something for lunch. As is probably obvious, I’m mighty fussy, so the usual fayre just won’t do.

This was a delicious chicken kebab with a couscous salad and gorgeous viniagrette. It felt pretty healthy too as it didn’t involve bread (something I find hard to omit) and contained vegetables. A bit ambitious to recreate in the office, but something I could create at home to bring in.

At nearly £5, it’s close to my personal limit on lunchtime spending. When I make my own, we’re looking at £10-15 a week, if I buy from local food shops or cafes, we’re talking more like £25 a week. Add the occasional pub lunch or restaurant treat, it shoots up even more.

Saving for that next holiday can all depend on a bit of resourcefulness on the lunchtime meal.

AboutYorick

A writer and web designer who loves eating, especially that meal called lunch, in all its lovely guises, whether it be a quick sandwich or a long, self-indulgent, alcohol-fuelled "advertisers' lunch". Inspired by comments from friends and colleagues about my lunchtime creations and adventures, I began this little blog. I hope you'll join me in sharing what you eat.
