Italian beef sub – Chicago style
We’ve gotten quite spoilt for lunch options in Hammersmith’s Lyric Square – not only are we treated to cuisine from all over the world on Thursdays, but we now have a smorgasbord of delights on Fridays too.
Today, I came across the Italian beef sub – apparently a popular street food of Chicago, it caught my eye as not only did I crave some quality beef, I’ve been caught up in the thrilling TV drama of Boss which is set in Chicago. The sub is sumptuously prepared and doled about by Hungarian chef Gabor Somogyvari – heaping slices of tender beef on to a generous baguette with lashings of sweet pepper sauce.
I went for the smoked barbecue version which came with a delicious sauce and was topped with cheese.
Now, for £5.50, this ticks all the right boxes especially on a Friday after a long week – it is huge!
Lots of meat, loads of flavour, good, fresh bread, spicy, tasty, love it. I’ll be back for more next week.
